Corporate tax registration

Quick overview:

Corporate Tax Registration UAE is mandatory for taxable persons under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022, with registration deadlines determined by the FTA based on the entity’s incorporation date and status. For example, a UAE company incorporated on 1 January 2026 must monitor its applicable FTA registration deadline and complete registration through EmaraTax; late registration may result in an AED 10,000 administrative penalty.

How Much Does Corporate Tax Registration Cost in the UAE?

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) does not charge a government fee to register for corporate tax — submitting your application directly through the EmaraTax portal costs nothing. However, doing it yourself means navigating document requirements, entity classification, and portal errors that commonly delay approval or trigger the AED 10,000 late registration penalty.

That’s where professional registration support adds value. We handle your complete UAE corporate tax registration for just AED 149 — covering document review, EmaraTax submission, and confirmation of your Tax Registration Number (TRN), so you avoid errors, delays, and penalties.

What's included in our AED 149 registration service:

  • Eligibility and category assessment (resident/non-resident, free zone/mainland)
  • Document preparation and verification
  • Full EmaraTax portal submission
  • TRN confirmation and compliance guidance

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. A business may still need to register for UAE Corporate Tax even if it expects to pay AED 0 in Corporate Tax. Corporate Tax registration and tax payment are separate requirements. Taxable persons generally must register with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and obtain a Tax Registration Number (TRN), subject to applicable rules and exemptions.

Yes. Free zone companies generally must register for UAE Corporate Tax, even if they may qualify for the 0% Corporate Tax rate on qualifying income as a Qualifying Free Zone Person. Being established in a UAE Free Zone does not automatically exempt a company from Corporate Tax registration.

Freelancers operating as natural persons may need to register for Corporate Tax if their annual business turnover exceeds AED 1 million. The threshold is based on business turnover, not profit. A freelancer whose business turnover does not exceed the applicable threshold generally does not need to register solely because they carry out freelance activities.

The Corporate Tax registration deadline depends on the type of taxable person and the date on which the business became subject to Corporate Tax. UAE companies and other juridical persons must follow the applicable FTA registration timelines based on their licence or establishment date. Missing the applicable deadline can result in an administrative penalty.

The standard administrative penalty for late Corporate Tax registration is AED 10,000. Businesses should therefore check their applicable registration deadline and complete registration with the FTA on time to avoid unnecessary penalties.

In certain circumstances, the AED 10,000 late-registration penalty may be waived or reversed under an applicable FTA penalty-waiver initiative, subject to the conditions in force at the time. Businesses should complete their Corporate Tax registration and meet the relevant Tax Return or Annual Declaration filing requirements within the specified period.

Once a complete Corporate Tax registration application is submitted through EmaraTax, the FTA states that processing may take up to 20 business days. The actual time can depend on whether the application and supporting information are complete and whether the FTA requests additional information.

The documents depend on the type of business, but Corporate Tax registration may require documents such as the valid trade licence, incorporation documents, commercial registration, partnership or constitutional documents where applicable, and identification/authorization documents. Businesses should ensure that their documents and business information are accurate before submitting the application through EmaraTax.
